The Heroes of the Massacre River: Free in Haiti Through The Kettly Foundation Partnership

The Kettly Foundation is proud to announce a new partnership with Haitian filmmaker Samuel Dameus and BOYO Films to bring the acclaimed documentary The Heroes of the Massacre River to audiences across Haiti, completely free of charge.

This three-year collaboration makes the film available for streaming on BOYOFilms.com throughout Haiti. Schools and universities will also be able to host in-person screenings at no cost, with opportunities for additional educational support.

The Heroes of the Massacre River is more than a documentary. It is a testament to what can be accomplished when Haitians come together in the spirit of unity and collective action. The Kettly Foundation is honored to help bring this story to classrooms, communities, and homes across Haiti.

About the Film:

Directed by Samuel Dameus (@samueldameus), The Heroes of the Massacre River tells the story of the civic movement that led to the construction of the Ouanaminthe canal, one of the most powerful examples of Haitians uniting at home and abroad. The documentary connects the history of the Massacre River to the present while highlighting the spirit of konbit, collective labor and mutual aid, that fueled the project.

The film is both a record of history and a tool for dialogue, education, and inspiration for future generations.

Gala Recap: An Evening to Empower, A Night to Remember

On Saturday, July 26, 2025, The Kettly Foundation hosted its First Annual Fundraising Gala at the prestigious Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, NY. It was an evening that truly embodied our mission: empowering change and enriching lives.

The black-tie affair brought together philanthropists, community leaders, and supporters from near and far for a night filled with culture, compassion, and purpose. Guests enjoyed an elegant evening of gourmet dining, unlimited drinks, live entertainment, and opportunities to support programs that directly transform lives in Haiti, across Africa, and beyond.

Event Highlights

Gourmet Dinner & Open Bar: A curated dining experience paired with premium drinks elevated the evening into a true celebration of community and generosity.

Live Music with NuLook: Guests were treated to an unforgettable performance by the world-renowned Haitian band, setting the tone for an evening of celebration and unity.

Raffle Giveaway: Excitement filled the ballroom as attendees awaited the announcement of our grand raffle prizes, which included:

The Kettly Foundation x Clean Okap x P4H Global

The Kettly Foundation is proud to partner with Clean Okap and P4H Global through a sponsorship grant in a shared mission to create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Haiti. Through this collaboration, we are working hand in hand with local leaders and communities to address one of the most pressing challenges facing the city of Cap Haïtien: waste management.

Cap Haïtien, Haiti’s second largest city, faces significant waste collection issues, with nearly 60 percent of waste remaining uncollected. This not only pollutes streets and waterways but also poses serious risks to public health and community wellbeing.

Our Commitment

We began our partnership by donating the initial funds needed to launch the “Cleanest Neighborhood Competition” known locally as “Katye Lakayann Pi Pwop.”

This grassroots movement was created to protect the beauty and culture of Haiti while inspiring communities to take pride in their neighborhoods.

In addition, our grant donation is helping to:
✅ Ship and repair essential cleaning equipment
✅ Fund vital education and training programs
✅ Empower communities with tools to keep their neighborhoods clean and thriving

Building Cleaner, Stronger Communities

But this partnership goes beyond equipment and training. It is about dignity, hope, and sustainable transformation. By engaging directly in grassroots cleanup efforts and education initiatives, we are working to spark lasting change.

These efforts aim to not only solve immediate challenges but also build long term

 

systems that empower residents, schools, and leaders to take ownership of their environment.

Together, we believe that a cleaner Cap Haïtien is not just possible. It is a vital step toward building healthier, stronger, and more resilient communities for generations to come.

The Kettly Foundation, in partnership with St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, hosted its 2025 Back to School Giveaway in Pompano Beach, bringing together families, students, and community partners for a day dedicated to education, empowerment, and hope.

More than 300 families received backpacks, school supplies, and essential resources to ensure that children begin the new school year prepared and confident. This initiative reflects our mission to not only equip students with the tools they need for academic success, but also to strengthen families through education, health, and community engagement.
